Day 3: YELLOW nails

*Pikachu!! I saw this mani online, and I wanted to try to re-create it. Kinda messy... oh, well! :)
Here are the colors that I used:

base color: Sally Hansen Lightening

Accent colors: Sally Hansen Rapid Red, Wet 'N Wild French White, Milani Nail Art Black Sketch

Pac-Mani

 Okay... I've seen a bunch of other takes on the Pac-Man mani, so I had to try it too! :)

Here are the colors I used (listed at the bottom):

Post base-coat... I started with base colors for the ghosts; Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening for Pac-Man, and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Brisk Blue, Presto Pink, & Rapid Red... and OPI Flit A Bit.

I used a dotting tool to dot the eyes... Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On & Black Out for the ghosts.

For Pac-Man, I used the tip of the brush from Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out to create his eye & Milani Nail Art Black Sketch to paint his mouth. (After posting this... I realized that Pac-Man's eyes are not perfectly round! They actually have a triangular cut-out! Oops...)

I used Milani Nail Art Black Sketch to paint the triangles at the tips of the ghost nails.

Add a good top coat of SV... and there ya go!! :)

4th of July!

Okay... I have a few minutes, so I thought I'd post my 4th of July mani! :)

After my usual base coat... I started with a solid base color of Wet 'N Wild Saved By the Blue. I love this color, it's a really bright, slightly-metallic cobalt-y blue. Makes your eyes dance... plus, it covers really well. :)

Once dry, I cut strips of tape to place diagonally over 1/2 of my nails. I like to use the blue painter's tape that you get at the hardware store... it works great! I find that it is easier to remove than Scotch tape, and it isn't as likely to ruin your polish. :)

On the top 1/2 of my nails I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red.

At this point, I added a top coat and called it a night. (I let a friend borrow my image plates, so stamping had to wait!)

The next day (on my lunch break), I got to stamping! Again, I taped my nails so that only the red was exposed. Over the red, I used Konad Special White to stamp the stripe pattern from Bundle Monster image plate BM20. 

After the stripes, I removed the tape & started on the stars. I used the star images from Bundle Monster image plates BM14 & BM 21. I alternated the patterns on differing nails. Try to be careful where you are placing the stamper, as the stars may end up overlapping the stripes. (See my middle nail, kinda weird.) On the large, open star from BM21, I added clear rhinestones. I finished the mani with Milani Nail Art's Art of Silver to add a touch of sparkle to the mix! A top coat of Seche Vite & DONE!! :)

BONUS: my 4th of July pedi -

I hate my feet! Haha!

For the pedi, I used the same blue & red base colors. Then I used Konad Special White to stamp the stars & stripes from Bundle Monster image plates BM20 & BM21... with a rhinestone on the star! :)

Ladybugs!

Hello, all! 

Tonight I called my mom to chat, and she reminded me that tomorrow is the 1st day of Summer! What a better way to celebrate... than with a summer-inspired mani?? I opted for ladybugs! I just love ladybugs! I even have a leaf with a ladybug on it, tattooed on the top of my right foot. ;-)

Here are my "ingredients." (Listed at the bottom of the post.)

After my two base coats, I picked out my base colors. I chose Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red  & Wet 'N Wild Sage in the City. I decided to do my accent nail with leaves.

 

Using Milani Nail Art Black Sketch, I painted the black lines to create a "ladybug" shape. I painted one line up the middle of my nail, then curved lines out to the edge of my tips. I filled in the black with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out.

Using a dotting tool (you can also use a bobby pin or toothpick), I added the ladybug's dots & eyes.

I did the black dots using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out, and the silver eyes using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver Sweep.

 

For the accent leaf, I stamped the leaves image from Bundle Monster image plate BM19, using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Sketch. I decided to add a single, red rhinestone to the accent nail... in an attempt to have it look like a tiny ladybug sitting on the edge of one of the leaves. In the photo, the rhinestone just looks like an orange blob! Uh-oh! ;-)

After a coat of Seche Vite... I am done!! :)

Cub Scout Mani

So, tomorrow I will be attending my son's Cub Scout Rain-Gutter Regatta and I wanted my mani to fit the theme of the day! :)
I just love a good theme mani! I opted for the traditional Cub Scout colors; blue & gold!

I started with my standard base coat, OPI Natural Nail Base Coat... followed by 1 coat of Milani Gold Lamé. Once that was dry... I took basic French tip guides and used them to tape off a portion of the nail. (You can use regular blue painter's tape, cut into strips... but I like the slight curve of the French guides.)

I decided to paint the tips in OPI Play 'Til Midnight... my new favorite navy! I used 2 coats.

Once done with all nails, I removed the tape... which left a clean line.

I felt that this was a little plain... so, I used L.A. Colors Art Deco Gold Glitter to add some sparkle!! :)

(Note: I bought the Gold Glitter nail art polish for $1 at Dollar General... w00t!!)

Add the best top coat in the whole, wide world (Seche Vite) and my Cub Scout mani is complete!! :-D

Now, I know that a bunch of elementary school boys with boats probably couldn't care less about my fingernails... but, I'll enjoy them!! ;-)

Side Note: I'm currently on the lookout for a good nail stamping image plate with a fleur de lis design on it. My son is now in the Webelo Scout den & they use a fleur de lis on their insignia. Any leads are greatly appreciated! :)

Well... here we go!!

Okie-dokie... so, this is my 1st blog entry!! Welcome!

I'm not entirely sure what I'd like to say here, as I hadn't really even thought about a blog, until about 30 minutes ago! Ha!

I guess I should introduce myself... so, to make it easy, I'm just going to copy/paste the "about me" from my Blogger profile: ♥ Let me start off by saying that I'm not a nail tech... I just have a weird infatuation with nail polish & nail art. Plus, doing nails relaxes me. I like to play with different polishes & new techniques. Feel free to post questions... I'll try to answer them the best that I can!! ♥ So that's that!! :) It's after 5:am here (OMGoodness!), so I guess I'll just post a couple pics of my Memorial Day mani... then off to sleepy-time!! Here it is!! My rendition of a "Patriotic mani!!" I'm not gonna lie... the idea actually came from Beyonce's nails in the music video for the song "Telephone." See... Kinda different, kinda the same. :) Now for the pièce de résistance... to add my own little spin to my mani, I stamped my thumbs with glittery, silver anchors to honor my family's U.S.Navy background!! Love it! Well... there it is, my 1st blog post. Next time, I hope to be better prepared. Now, I'm finally off to get my snooze on.
