Neutral Plaid & Purple Flowers

I splurged on a new Sally Hansen Insta-Dri today... so, of course, I had to play with it!! :)

I picked-out Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Slick Slate. I tried on one nail, but it was a little darker than I was in the mood for. So, I decided to use it as a nail stamp... along with another accent color & some rhinestones! ;-)

I started with a clear base coat & 3 coats of OPI Tickle My France-y.

Then I used the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Slick Slate (my new pretty) on the plaid pattern from Konad m60 (I've been using that one a lot lately... LOL!)!! Next I added the flower pattern (from the same plate) using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Pronto Purple. I love to stamp with the SH Insta-Dri polishes!! :)

Finally, I added a purple rhinestone to the center of the larger flower... 'cause a girl's gotta have her sparkle!

Don't forget the topcoat!!

Just a little somethin'-somethin'! :)

Pink & Preppy

Tonight I just went simple. I knew I wanted to use OPI Mod About You  in some sort of design. I just love this color! It is a very pale, baby pink cream that is surprisingly opaque in only 1 coat!! :)

So, I started with OPI Natural Nail Base Coat & 1 coat of OPI Mod About You. Then, I decided to keep it simple by just adding a medium pink stamp design, over the light pink. I chose the argyle pattern from the Konad m60 image plate.
I used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Presto Pink. I really like the SH Insta-Dri polishes... they are GREAT for nail stamping & they only cost about $4-5 at K-Mart. :)
Finish with 1 coat of Seche Vite... and there ya go! :)

Peacock!

Hello!! :)

Okay... I'm a Katy Perry fan, & this song has been stuck in my head all night:
Thus... my peacock-inspired mani! :)

I wanted to try to mimic the look of a peacock train, so here is a pic of the lacquers I used (I will list them at the end of the post):

I started out with a water marble, rather than the usual solid base color. I used Wet 'N Wild Sage in the City, Wet 'N Wild Teal or No Teal, and Confetti Centerstage.

After marbling all of my nails, I used Konad Special Black polish to stamp a sort-of peacock feather shaped pattern on every nail. I used Bundle Monster image plate BM-212. (Note: when you clean your image plate between stampings, make sure your plate is completely dry & free of NP remover before you start on your next nail... I didn't & that's why my middle finger is kinda "smudgy" oops!) After the nail stamping, I used a dotting tool to fill-in the pattern's center circles with OPI Catch Me In Your Net (a gorgeous teal glitter). Add a good top coat.. and... PEACOCK!! :)

Well, hope you all have a good Saturday! I'm sure I'll be inspired by something fun/unusual tomorrow, so, until then!! Toodles!! :)

Ladybugs!

Hello, all!

Tonight I called my mom to chat, and she reminded me that tomorrow is the 1st day of Summer! What a better way to celebrate... than with a summer-inspired mani?? I opted for ladybugs! I just love ladybugs! I even have a leaf with a ladybug on it, tattooed on the top of my right foot. ;-)

Here are my "ingredients." (Listed at the bottom of the post.)

After my two base coats, I picked out my base colors. I chose Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Rapid Red  & Wet 'N Wild Sage in the City. I decided to do my accent nail with leaves.

Using Milani Nail Art Black Sketch, I painted the black lines to create a "ladybug" shape. I painted one line up the middle of my nail, then curved lines out to the edge of my tips. I filled in the black with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out.

Using a dotting tool (you can also use a bobby pin or toothpick), I added the ladybug's dots & eyes.

I did the black dots using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out, and the silver eyes using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Silver Sweep.

For the accent leaf, I stamped the leaves image from Bundle Monster image plate BM19, using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Sketch. I decided to add a single, red rhinestone to the accent nail... in an attempt to have it look like a tiny ladybug sitting on the edge of one of the leaves. In the photo, the rhinestone just looks like an orange blob! Uh-oh! ;-)

After a coat of Seche Vite... I am done!! :)

Well, goodnight all! Hope you have terrific summers awaiting you!! :)

Summer Berry Candy-Mani

I haven't done a candy-mani in a while, so I thought I'd give it another go tonight! :)

For this one, I decided to give it a berry-vibe... almost like sweet, juicy raspberries! Yum!!

The colors I used are Wet 'N Wild How I Met Your Magenta, OPI Teenage Dream, and OPI Houston We Have A Purple.

First, the normal precautionary base coat. I've started using 2 coats of base, as my nails have really stained a lot lately! After my 2 coats dry... I applied 1 coat of Wet 'N Wild How I Met Your Magenta. The only other time I used this color was in a water marble, but I really like the way that this polish goes on... it has a nice jelly texture and it dries quickly.

Next, I added 2 coats of OPI Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry Collection. The 1st time I did a candy-mani, it almost broke my heart to think of covering up the glittery-goodness that is Teenage Dream... but it is so worth it! :)

Now, on to the sorbet! I absolutely love OPI Houston We Have A Purple... with and without the addition of glitter! I just used one coat it, then finished with a coat of Seche Vite.

Look at that glittery-jelly yumminess!! :)

Here is another photo of the final product... blurred to show the sparkle!

Goodnight loves! See ya, when I see ya!! ;-)

Toodles!

Cub Scout Mani

So, tomorrow I will be attending my son's Cub Scout Rain-Gutter Regatta and I wanted my mani to fit the theme of the day! :)
I just love a good theme mani! I opted for the traditional Cub Scout colors; blue & gold!

I started with my standard base coat, OPI Natural Nail Base Coat... followed by 1 coat of Milani Gold Lamé. Once that was dry... I took basic French tip guides and used them to tape off a portion of the nail. (You can use regular blue painter's tape, cut into strips... but I like the slight curve of the French guides.)

I decided to paint the tips in OPI Play 'Til Midnight... my new favorite navy! I used 2 coats.

Once done with all nails, I removed the tape... which left a clean line.

I felt that this was a little plain... so, I used L.A. Colors Art Deco Gold Glitter to add some sparkle!! :)
(Note: I bought the Gold Glitter nail art polish for $1 at Dollar General... w00t!!)

Add the best top coat in the whole, wide world (Seche Vite) and my Cub Scout mani is complete!! :-D

Now, I know that a bunch of elementary school boys with boats probably couldn't care less about my fingernails... but, I'll enjoy them!! ;-)

Side Note: I'm currently on the lookout for a good nail stamping image plate with a fleur de lis design on it. My son is now in the Webelo Scout den & they use a fleur de lis on their insignia. Any leads are greatly appreciated! :)

Toodles!!

Metallic Cheetah!

A couple weeks ago I was playing with my Bundle Monster image plates, when I asked my son what to do for my weekend mani. His suggestion: Cheetah! Good call! :)

I started with a base coat of OPI Glitzerland... I love this color!

Then, using Konad Special Black polish, I stamped the cheetah image from Bundle Monster image plate BM-221.

For the spots... I used a dotting tool to fill-in using OPI Take the Stage...

...and OPI Rising Star.

Finished with a top coat of Seche Vite... and voilà! Cheetah mani! :)

Later days!!

Granny-Panty Mani!

Here is last night's creation... the "Granny-Panty" Mani. Haha! :)

Not exactly the look I was going for... but, ultimately... that's what it looked like to me! Don't get me wrong... I love the way it turned out! :)

The base color is OPI Sparrow Me the Drama. Then, I used Konad Special White polish with Bundle Monster image plate BM-224. For the centers of the flowers, I used my dotting tool and added OPI What's With the Cattitude? and OPI Do You Lilac It?

I really like how it turned out!! Unfortunately, since I work at a doctor's office... I didn't think that a fist full of flowers would be very work appropriate. I kept the florals on my thumbs & ring fingers... and I went back to solid SMTD on the rest. Although, looking at the photo... I think I would've been fine at work! :)

Today my nail art rhinestones came in the mail, and I thought that this would be a great mani to... umm... BeDazzle!! ;-)

Okay, so, the rhinestones may be a bit much... but I had to play a little. :)

Later days!
